Dustin Granger Calls on State Democratic Party Chair Katie Bernhardt to Resign

Dustin Granger, Candidate for Louisiana Treasurer, Calls on State Democratic Party Chair Katie Bernhardt to Resign to Make Way for the Louisiana that Voters Deserve

“I will always stand in the gap between Louisiana voters and anyone — Katie Bernhardt, John Fleming, Big Insurance— that keeps Louisiana families from what they deserve.”

BATON ROUGE - Today, candidate for Louisiana Treasurer, Dustin Granger, called on State Democratic Party Chairperson Katie Bernhardt to resign and released the following statement standing up for Louisiana voters:

“Louisiana voters deserve better than the status quo, and they certainly deserve better than the current Democratic Party chair. From allowing countless seats to go uncontested, handing wins to far-right extremists, attempting her own self-serving bid for governor, and eroding trust with both local and national stakeholders — it's time Katie Bernhardt resign and make way for a new day in Louisiana.

“There is immense talent across our state and Democratic elected officials, activists, and candidates are working hard for working people. As a lifelong Louisianan, I refuse to let self interests at the top continue to drag us down. As the highest vote-getting Democrat in the primary, I am more committed than ever to leading the fight for our future. I will always stand in the gap between Louisiana voters and anyone — Katie Bernhardt, John Fleming, Big Insurance — who keeps Louisiana families from what they deserve.

“Democrats are the jobs party, the party of Medicaid expansion, living wages, and expanded freedoms. It’s high-time hardworking Louisianans see themselves reflected in party leadership. While a new Chair is to be elected in 2024, there is no time to waste. Right now, there are far-right extremists like John Fleming who have no place in office on the ballot, and I call on Democrats in every corner of Louisiana to show out to vote on November 18th to prove the Democratic Party is not a mere few at the top but the masses, from New Orleans to Baton Rouge to Shreveport, throughout our rural communities and my home of Lake Charles, who are ready for a new day.”
